Jay Cutler’s Injury Brought Him Criticisms

The AFC’s weekend championship has been filled so many stories to tell. Not only the astonishing victory of the Green Bay Packers over the Chicago Bears but also with the significant injury that happened to the Bears’ quarterback. Jay Cutler unfortunately had a Grade II MCL sprain and wasn’t able to play after the first series of the third quarter.

Due to what happened, his toughness was then questioned through a flood of twitter comments and negative feedbacks from the game’s commentators. To name some, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew and Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Darnell Dockett(notes), former players like Deion Sanders and ESPN analyst Mark Schlereth.

His coach, team mates and even the Bears’ GM Jerry Angelo defended him from the critics. “Our quarterback’s a tough guy. … It’s pretty simple what happened yesterday. Before the half, Jay hurt his knee. He showed a lot of toughness to continue to play with it,” coach Lovie Smith said. GM Jerry Angelo further added, “I certainly didn’t like what was said, and I take that personally, too. He’s our quarterback. We wouldn’t have been where we are without him. I want to make that clear. We stand by him. Nobody’s perfect. His play isn’t perfect. He’s not perfect. There’s not a person in this room or in this league that is, either.”

The Bears wasn’t able to make it to the Super Bowl XLV this time. They were defeated by the Green Packers which will face the Pittsburgh Steelers this coming February 6, 2010 in Arlington, Texas at the Cowboys Stadium. For those who can’t make it live, Super Bowl 2011 live stream would be offered by various sports sites. The official network which will be covering the event is Fox with announcers Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.
